Best Places to Go Camping Near Mumbai
UTTAN, Amongst Best Places for Camping Near Mumbai

This small, beautiful town is located along the coastline of Thane District beyond Gorai, away from the hustle and bustle of our city. It is a slow-moving fishermen village which, even though is a part of the city, feels so different and aloof. It is the perfect place to go for an overnight camping experience near Mumbai, under the stars and along the pristine waters. Enjoy some delicious seafood, some kickass live performances, some adventure activities and call it a day!

How to reach Uttan:
By road: Buses for Bhayandar start from places like Goregaon, Andheri and many more. From Bhayandar can change buses and reach Uttan or hire a local transport.
By train: One can take a train up to Bhayandar Railway Station, it is situated 12 kilometers away from Uttan.

VASIND

Tucked away from the noises of Mumbai in lush green mountains is this surreal place called as Karnala Bird Sanctuary. For a city that is known as a concrete jungle, this place will truly transport you to simpler, calmer times. Put on your hiking shoes and camp at the top of the mountain during any weather of your choice. Rest assured to be greeted with a blanket of stars at night and soft chirping of birds during the day
Key Attractions: Trek to the stunning Karnala Fort and spot colorful cooing birds on the way
How to reach Vasind:
By road: One can board a bus from Mumbai Central to Karnala. You can even take a taxi to Karnala, once you take the NH17 from Panvel, take a left after Shirdun
By train: Panvel is the nearest railway station to Karnala. Located at a mere 11-kilometer distance, you can easily hire an auto, taxi or even board a state run bus to reach the destination

KOLAD, Must Visit Places for Camping Near Mumbai

Mumbai’s alternative to Rishikesh’s white water rafting, Kolad is a gorgeous riverside gaining more and more importance with each passing day. Even though it has become a major tourist attraction with dozens of people driving away every weekend, this place is sure to mesmerize you with its simple charm and the gushing waters of the River Kundalika.

How to Reach:
By Road: You can reach Kolad by road easily. However, the roads can get bumpy and the network might go MIA along the way as well. Thus, it is suggested to download google maps offline and use
By Train: There are many direct trains running from Mumbai to Kolad. It is a convenient and smooth way of travelling. One can then ride on a tempo to reach this campsite near Mumbai.

PURUSHWADI, One of the best place to Camping Near Mumbai

Purushwadi is a quaint small town located at the end of the grass laden Kalsubai Peak. When you visit this place, you will get a firsthand experience of the village life, meeting locals, knowing their life and even participating in daily farming activities. One can even opt for easy yet fulfilling day treks to the mighty Konkan Kada and Harishchandragad. However, the cherry on the cake for Purushwadi is surely the glowing fireflies. As the sky turns dark, thousands of fireflies come out and light up the sky like fire flames. A coastal town in Southern Maharashtra, Malvan is one of the most scenic camping places around Mumbai. Head over to the Sindhudurg fort to soak in all the history of the architectural marvel, watch a breathtaking sunset at the Tarkarli Beach, enjoy some fun water sports, set up a nice fire camp, gaze into the star laden night or head over to any local restaurant to have a lip smacking thali, there is no shortage of the things to enjoy here.

By road: The frequency of buses from Mumbai to Malvan is great
By train: Malvan Railway Station is the nearest rail head from Malvan. However, it is easier to find buses from Mumbai to Kudal (29 km from Malvan).
By air: Nearest airport from Malvan is Dabolim International Airport. The airport is connected to different towns and cities across the world. One can rent a taxi from the airport to the main area.
