The country’s capital, Seoul along with Jeju Island and Busan, three of the country’s most visited places, would set you off on an unmatched cultural and historical rollercoaster letting you dive into the jaw-dropping history of The Korean War that occurred in 1950, the rule of Japan over Korea and the glorious past of how the kingdom sprouted and grew from nothing.

Jeju Love Land

Not everyone’s cup of tea and definitely not for the ones to get easily offended, Jeju Love Land is an outdoor sex themed park featuring a variety of art and sculptures of people in various sexual positions. The story behind the park is rather interesting. During the seventies, Jeju Island became the most popular honeymoon destination for Koreans. Many of these marriages were arranged and Love Land was used as sex education or rather an ice breaker to get things going! Wow, weird or amusing? You decide!

Museum Kimchikan

It is commonly known to everyone that Koreans do love their Kimchi, but did you know, there is an entire museum dedicated to the dish made of cabbage? The museum which opened in 1986, has attracted several tourists who are curious to know more about the dish that was becoming a hot favourite not only in Korea but spreading like wildfire on menus of restaurants around the world. The museum today displays the 1500-year-old history of Kimchi and how it is a significant part of Korea’s history and culture.
Another supercool thing you can try at the museum is to book a cooking class or a tasting session! Make sure you reserve the session at least four days in advance.

Sun Cruise Resort and Yacht, Must Visit attraction in South Korea

Korea is known for its cruise-ship tours and it is not uncommon to see many cruise-ships from the coast, but, a ship of land, that’s a first! The Sun Cruise Resort situated on the side of a cliff facing the ocean is known to be one of the first hotels designed as a ship. Towering at 150 feet height and 500 feet long, the cruise-ship lookalike resort has 211 guest rooms, six restaurants and a volleyball court. Staying at this resort, every morning you would be woken up to the sound effects of chirping birds and ocean waves to reflect the actual experience of being at sea. For all of you that are afraid to ever go on a cruise-ship, this is the closest you will get!

Poopoo Land

Yes, you read it right. South Korea offers its tourists with an array of free museums, but Poopoo Land is perhaps the only museum in the world which tells you what your faeces and flatulent sounds say about you. The museum, spread over three floors dives rather deep into the land of poop, farts and more, making its colourful and wacky exhibits an Instagrammer’s delight! It doesn’t end here; you can also eat out of a fake toilet pot at Poopoo Land.
The most exciting part of the museum is the way to exit. You will have to go across a dark room made to mimic our digestive systems and you will eventually slide your way out of the museum. By now, we bet you already know what inspired the slide!

Oedo Botania

Almost 30 years back, one man and his wife converted a strip of barren rocks into a land of the most beautiful shrubs, trees and various species of cacti. A visit here today would set you straight in the arms of the stunning natural space created by this couple. The whole island of Oedo is surrounded by lush green grass, beautiful sculptures and flowers of all sorts. To get to the island of Oedo, you would have to take a ferry from the neighbouring port, Geoje.

Samtan Art Mine

A former mine, which otherwise would have normally been left to rust away has been transformed into a rich art complex that houses modern art marvels whilst simultaneously talking about the history of mining in the region. In 2001, the mine which opened in 1962 was eventually shut down but today, this place is a splash of colour with some of the most enlightening art. Spend an evening here learning about mining and the stories of the brave men that lost their lives working at the mines.

Hwaam Cave

Asia’s largest limestone cave, Hwaam Cave, is a place you do not want to miss when in Jeongseon. The caves, which were once one of Korea’s largest goldmines is now open to tourists as a museum housing variety of cartoonish goblins and other sculptures to keep things alive. You could spend hours walking down the dizzying staircases looking at the magnificent caves that were once a hub for gold.

Vantablack Hyundai Pavilion

Commonly known as “the darkest building on Earth”, the Vantablack Hyundai Pavilion was built for the snow-white landscapes of the 2018 Winter Olympics. The building which stands 33 feet high and 115 feet long is made of Vantablack, a material that absorbs over 99.96% of light making the building as black as it could get, like a blackhole. The area around is also worth a visit as it hosts many art galleries.
